Reflection
Overall, this module has expanded my understanding of architectural history and theory in ways I hadn't previously encountered. Before taking this module, my focus was primarily on modern architecture, limiting my perspective to contemporary styles. However, this module introduced me to a diverse range of architectural styles worldwide. Moreover, it has empowered me to incorporate elements from ancient architectural practices into my designs. Given these insights and applications, I find the course immensely valuable.
About the Lectures
Before attending lectures, I had a narrow perception, expecting the lectures to focus solely on the history and theory of buildings, which I believed might be tedious and challenging to engage with. However, the reality of the lectures pleasantly surprised me, especially Mr. Azim's lectures. He employs captivating presentation techniques, such as addressing students by name, injecting humor into discussions, and transforming lecture content into interactive games. These innovative methods made the lectures more engaging and easier to grasp. As a result, my initial reservations about the course have completely shifted, and I now have a renewed appreciation for the subject matter.
Learning Platform
The learning platform for this module offers a wealth of resources. For instance, MyTimes hosts the tutor's lecture slides, while Telegram and Facebook serve as channels for essential updates and announcements. However, my preferred learning method is face-to-face interaction. I believe this method is more effective as it allows us to directly share feedback with teachers, pose questions, and seek their guidance.
Tutor & Module Coordinator
My Tutor is Miss Bashira, while the coordinator of this module are Dr. Lia. Both of them are dedicated educators. They consistently assist us in addressing any queries or uncertainties. Whether through face-to-face interactions or on social platforms, they respond promptly whenever students seek clarification.
