Assignment 2:Heritage & Conservation Proposal Report

Individually, we are required to prepare a Heritage & Conservation and Adaptive Reuse Proposal on the selected heritage building. we are required to propose a conservation approach or solutions to conserve the façade of the building and adaptive reuse usage. Besides, proposal should be supported by ICOMOS and JWN guidelines. A minimum of 2 precedent studies are required to support the proposal adaptive reuse idea and conservation methods for the building facade.

Proposal Report

For this final project, we are required to develop an adaptive reuse proposal for the building we selected on-site. I have chosen the Junk Book Store for my proposal. The project will include a detailed introduction to the building, proposed conservation methods, a dilapidation survey, and strategies for remedial measures and controls.

In this assignment, we needed to gather key information about the building we were working on, using our discipline-specific knowledge to make sure the details were accurate. We also had to stay on track with our schedule to complete the assignment on time, which tested our intrapersonal skills. Lastly, problem-solving and critical thinking were essential throughout the project. For example, coming up with solutions for the building’s deterioration and strategies for adaptive reuse required us to think carefully and creatively.
