Project 2: Poster & Seminar-Contemporary Issues
In this assessment, our group of 7 will required to identify a significant issue based on our observations from Project 1. In Project 1, we explored the relationship between architecture, society, culture, and place. In this project, we'll focus on one of four directions: architecture and place identity, adaptive re-use of traditional architecture, sustainable heritage tourism, or cultural spaces in cities. After deciding our direction, we'll conduct a detailed literature review to identify specific issues and their importance, then create a research title that reflects our study's focus and significance. In the end, we will produce a research poster and video to present and evaluate our findings. The expected outcome of this project is to identify our research direction and specific issue, and present findings through a research poster and video, demonstrating how architecture and culture shape place identity.
Sustainable Heritage Tourism:
Can restoration of Traditional Trades Reinstate the place identity of Jalan Tun H.S Lee
This poster presents an analysis of our research questions and solutions for the topic. It also includes our conceptual framework, which guided us to successfully complete the assessment.
Here's a video link discussing our research question and solution on this topic.
This assignment is derived from assignment 1. It mainly explores the problems in the street more specifically. Our group chose to explore sustainable heritage tourism. The question is can restoration of traditional trades reinstate the place identity of Jalan Tun Hs Lee. During the discussion process, we learned how to design, analyze, and answer questions. In the first two weeks, we struggled with creating specific questions, but after seeking advice from the teacher, we learned methods to ask more precise questions and verify their authenticity. This allowed us to move forward with the assignment. Since this is a group work, teamwork and effective communication are essential. However, I will struggled with communicating with my team members sometimes, which caused some issues with dividing tasks. To avoid this in future group assignment, I will also improve my communication to ensure that our progress is smooth and not affected by misunderstandings.
