Assignment 1: Materials Application

In this assignment, a group of 7 students is tasked with conducting a detailed case study on a captivating building in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor. Our goal is to identify and analyze 5 architectural and 2 structural materials used in the building, with a focus on 1 material that has a significant experiential impact on end users. We will provide a detailed illustration of the installation process for this material. The project will be presented on an A1 size board, including the building's historical background, clear images and information on the selected materials, a material experience analysis with a construction sketch, relevant building images, and a conclusion on the material application.

My group has selected Museum Negara as the building for our case study. We've gathered images and information about the architectural and structural materials we've chosen, along with other essential details about the museum, such as history and background of the museum.

This project has helped me understand professional practice in my field, especially in analyzing and using building materials. I learned how important clear communication is, whether I'm working with my group or presenting our findings. Finding and understanding information from various sources showed me how to adjust my communication style based on the situation. Overall, this experience improved my ability to share ideas clearly in both written and visual ways, which is essential for doing well in a professional setting.
